Fires Creek - North Carolina











Getting to Fires Creek (from Atlanta)
75N (21.2 miles)
Exit 268 to GA-5 North (575 toward Canton) (72.1 miles)
GA-5 North becomes Appalachian HWY US-76 (3.7 miles)
Turn left onto GA-60 (1.8 miles)
Turn right onto GA-60 Spur/Murphy HWY (7.5 miles)
GA-60 Spur/Murphy HWY becomes NC-60 (5 miles)
Turn right on US-64/74 E which will become US-129/19 (6 miles)
Turn right on US-64 E (toward Hayesville) (9 miles)
Turn left at the Citgo Station onto NC-1302 (Fires Creek Rd) (3.5 miles)
Turn north onto SR#1344 (Fires Creek Wildlife Rd) (4.5 miles)
Pavement will end after 1.5 miles
Go 3 miles on the dirt road
Makes a left to GREAT campsite down below the road

Notes:
- Bring firewood... not much there to use
- About a mile further up the road from campsite is a rec center with outhouses
- At the rec center (campsite, really) is a good place to start hiking
- Trail 76 (Bristol, blue blazes, 1.17 miles)
- 76 meets up with Trail 72 (Rim Trail)
- Rim Trail is a 24 mile loop... so walk a bit and then come back to 76
